Educational Travel Conference

Educational travel facilitates deeper, more enduring connections between travelers and the communities they visit through strong interpretation, experiential programming, and meaningful engagement.

The Educational Travel Community (ETC) is a membership organization dedicated to promoting lifelong learning through travel and advancing the field of alumni and affinity travel. ETC and its annual Educational Travel Conference offer professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities for the travel planners at alumni associations, zoos, museums, cultural, and conservation organizations who are responsible for the planning, management and/or marketing of alumni, member, and donor travel programs, as well as the tour operators, travel suppliers and country/regional destinations serving this sector of special-interest and lifelong-learning group travel.

Here a Few of the Topics I am looking forward to:

On January 14, President Obama announced his intention to increase cultural and educational travel to Cuba, as well as allow academic and religious travel. Of key interest to the non-profit community is his intention to "restore specific licensing of "People-to-People programs." The new regulations have yet to be released, but Robert Muse, a Washington, D.C., attorney with long experience in Cuba regulations, will outline their likely requirements followed by a discussion.

I may be biased but the lecture I am really excited about is our own Michael Greenberg:

His focus on making a difference in other people's lives drives his thirst for knowledge, his passion to share new insights, and his ability to take on new projects. Over the last seventeen years he has assisted both profit and nonprofit organizations realize their true potential by aligning their vision and charting a course for action. His stewardship has guided several companies from start up to industry leaders.

We will be giving updates through our social media channels, so if you are not already join us in the conversation of Twitter and Facebook.
